1. Registration is going on now for the YMCA Girls 13-16 year old Softball this summer. The deadline to sign up is TODAY. Sign up at the YMCA.
2. Any Book Club member who is interested in going to watch the midnight premier of Hunger Games at Mountain View on March 23rd,needs to come sign up in the library by the end of school TODAY.
3. Students who plan to take history 111, history 112, English 111, English 112, and psychology 111 next year must take a placement exam unless you have scored an 18 or higher on the reading portion of the ACT. The placement exam will be given on Tuesday after spring break in Mrs. Pettit’s room 1st block. Be prompt. If you are unsure if you should test, check with Mrs. Petrus. Registration for the dual credit classes will be April 4th at 9:00 a.m. in the Bear’s Den. You will not be able to register without passing the placement test.
4. We will have an earthquake drill on Friday at 2:15.
5. Watch KWSB on Friday for some advice from the class of 2012 and our take on The Hunger Games.
6. Archery Practice Thursday and Friday for those wishing to go to State Archery.
7. Archery t-shirts are in. If you have paid, stop by and see Coach Pitts. If you haven’t they are $10.
8. SPANISH SOCIETY MEMBERS: Please remember to bring your foods for the luncheon on Friday to the Spanish room. . EVERYONE needs to wear Spanish Shirts on Friday!
9. Any student who is interested in cross country next year and missed last Friday’s meeting, please pick up a packet and sign the sheet in Connie’s office.
10. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:
The MFA scholarship is due in Mrs. Petrus’ office TODAY by 3:00 p.m.
The Dr. Grace O. Doane Healthcare Scholarship is due Monday. It must be postmarked or hand delivered by that date, which will be during Spring Break. Let’s get it done this week!
MSHP Sergeant C. Dewayne Graham Jr, Memorial Scholarship for law enforcement or criminal justice, deadline is Friday.
The Beltz Scholarship deadline is approaching–April 1. If you are interested, please see one of the vocational teachers for an application.
11. Prom Information. . .
• Friday is the last day to buy tickets. All out of school date forms must be turned in before Friday!
• Tickets are sold during Jr/Sr lunch only
• If you have any known food allergies, please let Mrs. Brower know
• The music request list is on Mrs. James window.
• The 3-on-3 basketball tourney sign-up sheet is at Tina’s window. You may have a team of up to 4 and at least one person must be of the opposite sex and play.
• If you need an out of school date request form or new picture form see Mrs. Brower.

12. Alexis Privette is having another handgun class on March 24th. You may stop by Connie’s office by Friday to sign up. This is for girls ages 15 and older.
13. The City of Willow Springs is accepting applications for Lifeguards at the City Water Park. This is a seasonal position. It is preferred that individuals applying for this position, have or are able to obtain American Red Cross Life Guard Certification. The City of Willow Springs will offer lifeguard training. All applicants must be at least 16 years old at time of hire and possess a valid driver’s license. The City of Willow Springs is a drug-free work place and the City requires a pre-employment drug test. Please contact City Hall with any questions at 417-469-2107. Applications may be obtained at City Hall, 900 W. Main St and will be accepted through Friday, March 30th.
14. IT’S OFFICIALLY BASEBALL SEASON!!! We are now taking orders for Baseball shirts and hoodies! See Connie for an order form if you would like to sport a Bears Baseball t-shirt or hoodie this season to support our boys!

Middle School Holds Student Council Elections
The Willow Springs Middle School Auditorium has come alive with campaign posters as Student Council Election week is well under way.Students have the opportunity to run for the following offices: President (7th or 8th grade student) Vice President (7th or 8th grade student), Secretary (7th or 8th grade student) and class Representative (1 boy and 1 girl from each grade level). After filling out forms, gathering signatures and hanging posters it will all come to an end on Friday, September 2 when we hold our Election Assembly. The Student Body will gather in the auditorium and have the opportunity to meet all of the candidates and hear from those 7th and 8th grade students running for office. Following the assembly, the voting will begin. Mr. Perkins and Mrs. R. Owens will then tally the votes and announce the winners of the election on Tuesday morning, September6. Public School Choice
Willow Springs is in the school improvement process according to our Adequate Yearly Progress. Under No Child Left Behind Requirements we are required to offer Public School Choice because of this status. However, since there are no other5-8 public schools within our school district. Willow Springs R-IV is unable to offer public school choice.
Middle School Students Earn Honors
7th grade students Sarah Coonts and Ashely Doane both entered the annual Lions Club Peace Poster contest that is sponsored y the Willow Springs Lions Club with hopes of winning.
8th Graders Celebrate Veterans Day
From October 19th to November 1, every 8th grader was working hard on a VFW essay.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
The 7th & 8th grade girls track teams have been dominating this season. At this point, they have participated in 3 track meets (Liberty, Mtn. Grove, and West Plains) and are undefeated. The 8th grade Lady Bears are in pursuit of their second S.C.A. title while the 7th grade Lady Bears are after their first.
