WS students excel at Art, Band, Choir, and FFA contests last week

SDATA ART EXHIBIT
The High School and Middle School art departments exhibited work in the South-central District Art Teachers Association Conference this weekend at Drury College.
- Desiree Dixon was awarded the SDATA Scholarship
- Mr. McGarry received an honorable mention in the teachers’ exhibit and
- Mrs. Gilley (retired MS art teacher) received a 2nd place.
- David Piatnitsky earned 2nd place in Black and White drawing.
- Shelby Huffty earned honorable Mention in Black and White Photography.
- Luke Brooks earned 2nd place on his Bull Sculpture.
- Mrs. Pitts in the middle school exhibited her pottery and her students earned 2-1st place ribbons, 2-2nd place ribbons and a 3rd place ribbon.
- The Art Department exhibited work in the 2009 Mountain Grove Invitational Art Show. The results of this show were:

- Willow Springs Art Department received all the ribbons in Color Design, Mixed Media, and Sculpture.
Also exhibiting artwork from Willow Springs were: Blake McDaniel, Brittany Agee, Candice Dickman, Kelsie Gries, Morgan Schowengerdt, Maria Kharitonova, Nina Gerisimova, Ashley Honeyfield, Brittany Brooks, Blake Collins, Sara Johnson, Whitley McDaniel, Adrian Peterson, Amanda Doyle, William Alsup and Renee Pikul.
DISTRICT MUSIC
Congratulations to the band for an Excellent rating at district music on Thursday. Superior ratings were hard to come by in the instrumental music side. GREAT JOB BAND!
Also congratulations to Brandon Coursen for qualifying for State. Congratulations to Becca Pikul and the percussion ensemble of Megan Malko, Meredith Pilcher and Tasha Burtchett for narrowly missing State!
CONCERT CHOIR
Congratulations to the Concert Choir for earning a Division 1 rating at the State Music Festival.
DISTRICT VOCAL SOLOS
Congratulations to the following soloists for earning a Division 1 rating at District Music: Chantel Lasley, Brandon Coursen, Jared Lovan and Daniel Cummings. They will advance to State Music in May.
Congratulations to Alexis Duncan for earning a Division 2 rating on her vocal solo at District Music.
