Tasty Triangles

Recently, sixth graders learned about triangles with a fun lesson in Mrs. Berger’s classroom.

They used string licorice to build triangles and analyze their angles and sides. Partners worked together and discussed Isosceles, Scalene, and Equilateral as well as Right, Acute, and Obtuse and classified each triangle. Students also learned that the total of the angles of a triangle is ALWAYS 180 degrees. They used this information to practice finding the measurement of any missing angles. Of course, after completing these tasks the students enjoyed eating the licorice. Information on triangles will be assessed on the MAP Test this Spring. If you spot a triangle, and yor sixth grader is around, be sure to ask them to identify the triangle by its sides and angles.
