Thursday, April 24, was probably the most stressful and one of the happiest days of the seniors’ lives. It was Senior Project night. The library was full throughout the day and there was an air of excitement and anxiety in the high school as seniors finished those last minute details on their presentations.

Willow Springs Animal Health Center is recognized by the Willow Springs Scholarship Club as a 2008 Scholarship Sponsor at the $250 level. The sponsor program gives businesses, individuals and civic groups the opportunity to share their resources to give substantial scholarships to WSHS graduates.

MAP Testing is a phrase that brings mixed feelings to all of us; thankfully we high schoolers completed our testing in a mere two days, great job! However, the third and fourth graders took six days to complete all of their tests.

First Baptist Church, Willow Springs, receives a certificate of recognition from the Willow Springs Scholarship Club for being a $500 Scholarship Sponsor. This year six WSHS graduates will receive $3,000 tuition scholarships, 10 students will receive $500 textbook scholarships, and 1 student a $3,000 second year of study scholarship from WSSC.

Tragedy. Comedy. Romance. These three powerful emotions are all great examples and true expressions of what anyone feels and lives when reading Shakespeare. The sophomore class here at WSHS is reading one of the best written plays known to mankind: Macbeth. This well-written script portrays the life of a man who is loyal to his country and to the and king of Switzerland, King Duncan.

What is Destination Imagination, or DI? DI is an educational program that fosters creative thinking and problem-solving skills among participating students. Students in teams of up to seven members solve problems in a variety of areas and learn to work with others as a team, evaluating ideas, making decisions, and creating solutions while developing self-confidence from their experiences. The Regional Competition was held on March 1st at Carl Junction School in Carl Junction, MO, with the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th grade teams competing.

Since April is Poetry Month, Borders book store in Springfield is planning a special poetry event which includes guest speakers and poets. Because of Jessica Girdler’s exemplary performance at the Poetry Out Loud event in Springfield on February 19, she was asked to be one of the guest performers!

For the month of March, Elks Lodge 2418 has chosen Jacob Berger as teenager of the month. He is the son of Kay Berger, who is a 6th grade teacher at Willow Springs, and Ted Berger. Jacob is strong athlete and remarkable academic student.

On the morning of January 10, many students drove by the high school doors to see some of our school maintenance personnel installing a brand-new flag pole. The pole was purchased with assistance from the MCJROTC support staff at 9th Marine Corps District in Kansas City.

ATTEN-SHUN!! Drop what you're doing and pay attention, Soldier! Five JROTC cadets traveled to snow covered Vermont from January 18 to the 20 where they attended a leadership camp at Norwich University located in scenic Northfield, Vermont. The cadets representing Willow Springs were Jordan Sletten, Ashley Ressler, Autumn Brower, Taylor Collins and Shavahn Boyle.

Over the past twenty-seven years the Willow Springs Boys Basketball program has been through a lot of ups and downs. There have been the good times:seven SCA titles, eight district titles, and a state final four appearance in 1990, and bad times: five seasons of 15 or more losses, but one thing hasn't changed through thick and thin; the determination and leadership of "The General" Brent Colley, who is now over halfway through his final season as the head coach of the Willow Springs Bears...
